Re: Right front blinker light needs to be replaced (dmc1007)
two basic ways:
according to the manual there is a panel underneath which you must remove..then you have to move the brake air duct out of the way...
the other method is to open the hood, then bring up your headlamps (turn switch so the lamps are off but still up)...remove the black bezel around the headlamp (I believe three screws) and then reach down and change the bulb (you may also have to remove the bumper stop...mark it and then use a wrench to remove it...this will supposedly give you a bit more clearance in getting your hand down into the bumper).
I've never done it...and I hope it will be a long time until I do...that's because I purposely pulled Fuse #2 under the hood to 1) not make a target out of myself to radar/laser...they just love seeing those two bright yellow lights and 2) my bulbs should last a lot longer.
Re: Right front blinker light needs to be replaced (dmc1007)
David,
I just had the pleasure of changing out the left side this past weekend and am pleased to report it's not much of an undertaking in spite of the awkward access. I think the bulb number is 3057LL (listed in the manual or in the selection computer at your auto parts store) and I paid about $10 for a pair at a local Pep Boys. I went in from the top with the headlamp bezel off and did not have to remove the hood bumper stop although it probably would increase your range of motion especially if Popeye-esque arms are involved. The connector socket is located in the underside of the housing (lefty-loosey/righty-tighty) and I found the hardest part to be removing the old bulb with one hand but after a couple if minutes of blind fumbling it was kind enough to come out in one piece. I didn't wear any gloves to protect the new bulb from oil but did read a couple of archived posts which suggested that. Total time was probably in the 15 minute range
Re: Right front blinker light needs to be replaced (dmc1007)
It's a bit late, but just two days ago someone posted a message to push the brake duct out of the way, and squeeze your hand in. I did this yesterday for a light on both sides, both the 194 and the 3157, and I did it in less than five minutes in the Autozone parking lot with nothing but my hands and a few choice words.
Re: Right front blinker light needs to be replaced (leaftye)
leafty, interesting...was it hard to push the brake duct aside? And what about putting it back in place? Looks to me like the brake duct end has to fit around a lip in the bottom portion of the fascia.

The brake ducts move out of the way and back into place very easy.

Mark.... you said you pulled the #2 fuse to turn off the running lights... why not just use the DIC and turn them off?......  :auto: :hurray: :steering:  :skep: :leaving:
Re: Right front blinker light needs to be replaced (Grumpy)
Brake ducts are worthless for daily driving as brake ducts, but as access ports I can get to every light in the front of the car except for the headlights. This weekend I installed a Vararam, and forgot to plug in one of the foglights, and plugged it back in at a gas station in less than half a minute.
Re: Right front blinker light needs to be replaced (leaftye)
leaftye, okay, here come the stupid questions...exactly how did you push the brake ducts out of the way? Everytime I stick my hand in there I feel a lot of resistance...do you push them up and then to the right or left...or push them straight back (don't think that works)...I hate to be so ****...but how exactly did you move the brake duct out of the way (from the front). My hand is small enough to fit in the front, but I just don't know how to move that brake duct out of the way (and then be able to reposition it). Thanks!

[QUOTE]how did you push the brake ducts out of the way?[/QOUTE]
I just pushed them in and down. I was even forceful about it. There's not much risk of damaging anything by pushing it down. Push it down, then stick your hand in there, doing so will push it down out of the way, and just keep pushing your arm in till you reach whatever your reaching for. The bumper is urethane, so it'll flex a good bit. Good thing the bumpers aren't fiberglass too eh? When you're done, the opening for the brake ducts might be down below sight, but just use a little effort to push the top of the duct toward the rear of the car. The front will then become visible. Without letting go, stick one finger in the front of the brake duct, and use it to lift it back up. Mine duct seemed to find it's original place all by itself.
I used those brake ducts during part of the Vararam installation. I also used it to plug in the foglights and replace both types of corner lamps. It's a much better alternative than removing the panels below the bumper like the manual suggests.
Let me know if this makes it clear. If not, I'll take some pictures after work and send it to you tomorrow morning.
Re: Right front blinker light needs to be replaced (leaftye)
leaftye, thanks for the good info...much clearer now and I'll give it a try. I agree, it would certainly beat having to remove the bottom access panel.
