I was thinking about all the people on this forum that race and wondered if you guys ever though of this... the savings might be too little to miss, but it's just a thought.
Titanium Lug nuts and bolts.
I realize that the weight savings would not be much, but it is unsprung weight so any weight savings in that department would be huge.
just a thought though.
Oh, I saw it on a Ferrari 360 Challange, comes factory with Titanium wheel bolts.
actually, I don't think it matters that much... lug nuts and studs are fairly close to the center of the wheel... rotating inertia is dependent on the weight and distance from the center of rotation. Ounce for ounce, i'd take tire weight savings... but then again, if you've done everything else, there's no choice but to keep going. :seeya
Gotta love this place. The joke replies got me LMAO. Seriously, the rotating inertia point is a good one. But the 360 Challenge is a true study in the "every ounce counts"approach. I recently saw a complete titanium brake package on this forum - rotors and calipers. How's that for reducing unsprung weight? They didn't list a price except to say it was expensive. I don't recall the thread, but there was a pic and they looked awesome for the right guy. $$$$

That is one of the threads. But I just saw the other pic again over on general discussion. Mebrahimi posted under "I'm drooling". I don't know how to post direct link.
