Default To Vortex or not to Vortex

I just installed the Corsa exhaust ( poor alignment), and now I need input on the intake replacement. Regarding the Vortex Rammer, does anyone have pictures of the Black cover, all I see is the Clear? Is it really necessary to see the filter prior to maintenance? I would think every 10k a service would be advisable, maybe it's a lot of effort to get to the filter...
Anyone's opinion on other intakes would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick

I would recommend for shots of the black you try the archives.
I went with the clear for several reasons:
-It allowed visibility not only of the filter but also of the radiator to inspect for any debris.
-I felt that IMHO the clear looked way cooler showing the large filter as opposed to just another opaque black box.

Access is not bad, I prefer to use my rhino ramps to just slightly lift the front and then I can easily reach up to the filter.

Again these just the opinion of one, you must weigh your preferences.

I love my vortex... it's has all the benefits of a cold air intake and is relatively cheap (I got mine new on here in the box for $140.00) compared to $500 for a vararam. Also, it's still 14" off the ground so hydro locking isn't really a worry. I got the clear lid becuase it looks very cool and I can see the filter, not for maintenance.

I have the Vortex and love it. You can easily see the filter from under the car - even without ramps - unless you put one of the new radiator screens under there. The clear box looks like s*~t as soon as it gets dirty or wet. That's why I got black.
