Hey, i am a new member of this forum, and i was wondering if anyone has delt with this situation before.
As i get into my vette this morning, i look over out the passanger window and my side mirror is just hanging there! After inspection, i believe someone in my parking lot must have been drunk or something and leaned on it too hard and popped the spring or something out? The mirror just swivles around on the point where it is connected...the power mirror works. I can 'lift' the mirror up a little bit and see the center metal thing which contains the wires and stuff. Does anyone know how the mirror sits in place or what holds it therE? will i have to remove the whole door body panel to get to it? if ANYONE knows anything at all about this, it would be greatly appreshiated!
Thanks,
Dan

This is a common problem with the C5s. Poor design if you ask me. There is a small metal ring which holds the spring in place. Once this pops off the mirror is not held in place and swivels around. Several ways to fix it: replace the mirror (most expensive), glue the mirror in place with some epoxy (easiest and least expensive but least reliable), or take the door panel off and drill screws in mirror housing to hold it in place (most work but inexpensive and stays in place).
