I removed both the bolts that rest against the A arms and go up through the leaf completely. Now when I make a complete U turn (either side) the car makes weird noise like clunk clunk clunk. It is so LOUD and so bad that it feels like my wheels are going to come right off and if they did not I would DEFINATELY break something for sure :smash:
Is this noise due to torsion bar rubbing directly against the bottom A arm?
I would also like to mention that my front tire size is 275/40/17. I had the tires on there before lowering the car but they never rubbed.
Secondly, I took the car for a complete 4 wheel alignment. The guy was having all sorts of problems for the front alignment. The car still pulls to the left heavily. According to him, the toe and camber is aligned but there is noway to fix caster unless I have different camber bolts.
Having the leaf spring rub directly on the a-arm sounds like a really bad idea to me. I'd try cutting down your bolts to just one rubber pad left, and reinstall them.
Not sure why it would make for a clunking noise, but anything is possible. The springs in your car are fiberglass/compositve leaf springs, not torsion bars.
Caster can be adjusted - a couple ways on a C5. Since the lower control arm has two mounts to the body, pushing the rear one further out will move the BJ forward, and give you a bit more caster (and vice versa for the other direction, and for the front etc)
Also, behind the upper control arms are spacers. Sometimes there are none, one, or two. Adding and subtracting those (don't go more than two, running zero is fine) will alter your caster also.
I'd find a different alignment guy, and put the bolts back in your springs. I've got about half of the stock bushing left, and can't imagine the car being much lower than it is, and still even drivable on public roads.
Thanks so much guys. This all really helped me. Now I have another problem, I have lost both the bolts :( I will try local chevy dealership to get them and install them back.
