autometer electrix fuel gauge problem....?

autometer electrix fuel gauge problem....?
Hello,
so i installed my electric fuel pressure gauge today - i ended up cutting the plug and running the wires throught the firewall... then soldered the wires back to the plug.
I have a good ground and have the power hooked directly up to the ignition wire (orange).
So when i start the car the gauge sweeps from 100 to 0 to 100 and stay's at 100....
Any idea's?????
