Intake Manifold Porting
Questions:  (1) Will porting my Intake Manifold and/or throtle body throw me any codes and check engine lights?
(2) Will it affect reliability?
(3) Has anybody done it? And what were the results
:skep:
Thank you all.................... :)
1)I ported and polished my throttle body. There is a good article on exactly how to do it by chuckster. He's on the forum. I can't speak for him but if you ask him I bet he'll email you a copy of the article.
2)I didn't port my manifold. I don't think that is something I would want to do, especially on my LS1 manifold. I don't think I would gain anything and probably would hurt performance due to flow velocity changes. I swapped my intake manifold with an LS6 and got a good boost in performance for the dollar invested, and it is an easy change.
3) I also installed a set of SW headers 3" mid-section, and xpipe w/ hi-flow cats.
4) I haven't affected my reliability, so far.
5) My results were:
Prior to the above changes the car was stock with: VaraRam, smooth tube coupler, Corsa xpipe, and Corsa Daytona exhausts. RWHP=318, RWTQ=322.
After the headers, intake manifold swap, and throttle body porting, RWHP=347.3, RWTQ=356.6
I personally don't think you will feel any difference in performance SOTP from porting your throttle body, and I wouldn't swap the intake manifold without doing headers and pipes. If I were only going to do 1 thing, I would do long tube headers to start. Just my $.02
Good luck!
Will just porting my throtle body with everything else stock help or actually hurt the performance of the car? Or just like you said I simply will not feel anything.....Do I REALLY need lets say a Z06 manifold or lets say a C.A.I to go with that???
Big thanks for responding...
