Default T1 Sway Bars Installation

I need help on how to install the GM T1 Sway Bars. I am totally confused about the end links. I searched for archived topics but couldn't find anything regarding the installation. Pictures of installation will help a lot.

Thanks

What is it you're confused about? I've had my endlinks and bars on and off about 5 times - maybe I can help?

Are the T1 endlinks different from standard endlinks? (I have Z06 bars w/ Alumn endlinks)

How do I adjust the heavy duty end-links that come with the GM T1 Sway Bar kit? Should I tighten it realy tight so it will be kind of pulling the sway bar down or should I make the end-link flush with the sway bar?

Thanks

Adjust the end link so the bars are neutral. Not pulling or not loose this is WITH the weight of the car on the suspension and your weight in the drivers seat. Don't chrush the rubber bushings or isolators I shimed mine with three washers top and bottom. I don't know if the kit changed but mine I needed to shim to avoid chrushing them. Don't forget the lube on the rubber bushings. Good luck! :seeya T-1's rule

Hello,

I would like to add a few commentsÂ….

When you install the bars, make sure they are centered but do not torque down the cradle bushing bolts. You should be able to slide the bar laterally side to side and the ends of the stab bar should be above the A arms.
Next measure your OLD end links from center of bolt to center of bolt. Compare these measurements with the NEW end links and adjust the new end links if necessary.

At this point install the end links on to the stab bar, note install the end link nuts with your fingers only. Rotate the bar down and install the end links to the A arms.

Warning take your time during the front bar installation, the front links may rub the stab bar, therefore you must ensure that the bar is centered. Check end links for load, by sliding the end link in their mounting holes. The link bolts should slide freely side to side in the bar and A arm.

Torque up the bolts and enjoy the ride. After a few day of driving inspect the bars for shifting off center and re-torque every bolt.

My T1 experience> the end link nuts suck! They use a fiber lock nut that will loosen up over time so have some LocTite Blue during the end link installation.

Cheers!

I ended up ditching the T1 endlinks as they rattled. What I did use was the stock Z06 aluminim endlinks in the rear and some Hotchkis endlinks in the front. Adjustments and fit will depend on actual ride height of your car--if it's lowered alot, the Z06 rears won't fit. Also, check to make sure that the front bar bottom doesn't touch the lower A-arm.

Thank you all for the helpful replies. We already installed the front sway bar with the T1 end links. Seems ok. The car is still on the lift though. We haven't done the adjustments and the lowering yet. We are using 2004 GM/Sachs Z06 shocks with this setup.
