Default MAF Sensor Info Please!!!!!

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with removing the screen of the maf. I'm thinking about doing it but don't know if its a good idea. Is it worth it? What should I watch out for? Am I just better off buying an aftermarket one, or can I get the same hp just by removing the screen. I have a vararam intake, so I fugured this might be a good way to get more air in. Advice and experiences are appreciated. Thanks.

I think it was GM High Tech Performance magazine that did a before and after test with the stock sensor and an SLP sensor. They got more power with the SLP sensor. I've also seen other tests that show a slight increase with taking the screen out of a stock sensor, but the last test I saw also cut a hole in the airbox. I have a Vararam, and I removed the screen from my stock sensor. If I could go back, I would have ordered the SLP sensor, if only to have my stock sensor as a backup...just in case. If you have steady hands, and you trust yourself, push that screen out, just don't expect much of a difference.

Do you think its even worth it? What kind of gains would you guess vs. getting an aftermarket one?
