Default Nighmare continue... Need help...

I bought a used superstroker motor w/ supposedly less than a thousand miles a few mos. back and have had nothing but problems. It was built by a well known tuner and was claimed by seller to be in perfect working condition.

Finger pointing aside I would like technical opinions on what this latest round of issues are before going ahead and spending thousands more on this project. I'm also going to leave out names of all party involved for now and focus on solving the problems at hand.

Current issues:
1) Down on power, motor is making 10% less power than comparable setup
2) White smoke coming out of oil fill opening, oil cap itself is dripping w/ water condensation.
3) leakdown test shows 7%
4) Motor would not restart once it's warmed up. After a couple hours of cooling down it start right up.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Bo.

Usually the white milky buildup on the oil cap is indicative of either a blown head gasket ot cracked head allowing coolant into the oil. Pressurize the cooling system with approx 10 PSI, and see where the coolant gets pushed out of. Depending on where it comes out, you may have to tear down the engine for inspection. IM or email me if you need any more diagnostic info

:iagree: it sounds like (blow by) to me white smoke comeing up out of the oil fill tube is not cool this happend to me and i found out my engine biulder had put one of the rings the wrong way (what a dumb a-s-s) any ways on the not running after warm up the only thing i can think of would be coil packs ( ign. system ) etc. i know on race apps. after a few hours of running they need to cool down or change the coil but this is like drag cars but if its doing this you might wanna check them coils and lets hope you dont have a cracked head or blown head gasket

REFUND! Tattooed and myself could take a little road trip for you :auto:

Seriously, I'd not want to put any money into a motor that should already be ready to go. :banghead:

Guys,
Motor had hydrolocked from leaking heads which was subsequently fixed, I was told heads was pressure tested before going back in car. Motor was cleaned, everything checked before car was started.
Shop where the car is at now suspect ring problem.

Hi Joey,
What a disaster this turn out to be ! This is what happen when you don't leave well enough alone. Should have stuck w/ the SC project.

The coolant sounds like either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. If they did a re-ring they could have taken too much out of the cylinder and caused a crack. The start problem does sound like coil issues. I'd be hesitant to put much money into this project unless I could identify the whole problem.
