C5 Tranny question
I just bought a 2001 with 6spd (48K miles). What is the model of the manual tranmission (how is it referred to) so I can search the forum to see what gear oil (Mobile, Red Line, Amsoil, etc.) is recommended by the "experts". The oil may never have been changed by the last owner...I expect it is due. This is my first sports car/Vette in 20 years, so I'm out of touch with all the new nomenclatures. I can carry on a good discussion about station wagons and mini vans......Thanks for the help.

Hi! Welcome to the Forum. The 6 speed trans is referred to as the M6. Change it, using one of the synthetic oils you mentioned. Both are good. Also, we have a club member who swears by Royal Purple. :rolleyes: Enjoy the car!! :) :thumbs:
