when I do try to get on it at about 4500 rpm the trans pops into neutral hits the rev limit and then engauges and starts to accelerate again. Is that a trans problem or is the stock converter not handling the extra power. How can I resolve this problem? :nonod:
Re: 01 A4 with ATI / having problems please help (LS1MASACRE)
Running a OE trans with an ATI setup is begging for a break down... IMO, you should purchase one of those beefed up transmissions and drop that in right away... the trans you have now will only get worse and break eventually even if you rebuild it to stock specs... :smash:

I'm also interrested on this problem some of the members told me that there is no problem but i really think that the stock trans can't handling that power!!!!
Re: 01 A4 with ATI / having problems please help (azamolo)
The Automatics need to be rebuilt to withstand the new power.. the 6 speeds will hold up... the clutch assemblies will need to be upgraded though... :yesnod:

LS1MASACRE,
On an 01 A4, you will be lucky if your tranny lasts another 500 miles with the ATI.
The 2003 and 2004 C5 A4s are rated for around 400 hp, but not 450. With the ATI, you have much more than 400 hp, so it is just a matter of time and miles before you start getting reduced engine power codes shutting down the car. That is what happened to us.
Our A4 coupe didn't last 50 miles once we bolted on an ATI P1.
We had to have our tranny taken out and completely built up for 850 rwhp before we could really lay into it.
