Re: For a C5, 6spd... Hypertech or Predator (John Shiels)
Finding a reputable guy to hit it with LS1 edit is more worthwhile. I swear my car felt better after taking the Hypertech programming out and going back to stock. It adds a lor of midrange timing so the car feels stronger but isn't necessarily.
Re: For a C5, 6spd... Hypertech or Predator (LittleBoyBlu99)
Quite a few years ago when one could add a CHIP Hypertech was OK. However, today on the C-5 I have seen cars actully lose power on the dyno after the install. LS1 edit is the only way to go. There are mixed reviews with the preditor but I will let others with experience speak to predator. Some of the tuners with LS1 edit do not charge for subsequent tunes as you add mods to the car, ie free edit with each mod. Good Luck
Re: For a C5, 6spd... Hypertech or Predator (Sack Rat TT)
I would go w/ the LS1 edit tune if you can. I have seen people lose on the dyno w/ the predator. I gained 25 rwhp and 30 ft/lbs from a LS1 edit tune. Kaley
Re: For a C5, 6spd... Hypertech or Predator (2C5only21)
I started with Hypertech and I got a steper acceleration curve but also a dip of about 10 hp/tqe at 4500 rpm. Then with Predator my curve straightened up and ii gained 4-5 hp (313 hp/325 tqe) for a 01 C-5 MN6 with 3:90 rear. Each one gives you a little more options. Hypertech = just load their stock program. Predator gives you access to fuel and timing control. Ls1 has everything. Question is do you have a person qualifed to program with Ls1 in your towm? Do you want a copy of the program he installs. This requires you have a laptop and the program (for LS1, about $700) Depends on your needs and or mods.
