Most don't disconnect the battery, for the actual installation there isn't a need to.

Some say disconnecting it resets the computer, so it starts the relearn process faster. The computer will relearn and adjust for the additional airflow over time anyways. Don't expect a dramatic performance difference until you put 100 miles or so on it.

It is also a CYA for the manufacturers because the C5 electrical/computor systems are sensitive and complicated. :yesnod:

If I remember correctly the Blackwing instructions call for disconnecting the MAF. If your going to do this I recommend you disconnect the bat.

I did an install of a twin-cone air intake and did not disconnect the battery. There was no need to do it. :chevy

I believe most call for the battery disconnect just a safety thing in case you hit something with 12 volts on it or cause the engine to turn over with your hand in something. Sid.
