I need some advice on removing the rear rotor.... This seems to be an easy enough job but for some reason I cannot seem to budge the bolts that secure the rear caliper bracket/mount..... Any trick to removing these bolts... I have tried a braking bar and still no luck......
You should be able to loosen the bolts with a breaker bar. You need to be able to apply max. torque with the bar. That means the breaker bar needs to be at a 90 degree angle to the longitudinal axis , in other words, straight up and down. This should give you enough levereage to break loose the bolts. You need to have the rear up high enough to do this (don't forget to use jack stands).
As best I can recall, inaddition to them being very tight, they also have thread lock on them. As stated above, make sure you are going the right direction and let her rip.
:iagree: They are on there good. They will come off with enough leverage. I had a 26" breaker bar and I still had to use all my strength to losen them up. Was basically doing a one handed push up with the breaker bar parallel to the ground :D
I use a 12" pipe which fits over the handle of my breaker bar. The I slide it out to wahtever is the maximum length I can get in the wheel well and use the increased leverage to break the suckers free.
They are a beach! I have good upper body but my 160 lbs, I loose traction. I have to get my feet up against something or the only thing that moves is ME! :jester
