I upgraded my suspension this weekend to 2004 z06 shocks, sways and new rear z06 spring. Car feels much more responsive. I think that is the end links more than anything else.
However, when I pulled the bilsiens out on the left rear the bump stop came out in pieces. Checked the rest of the shocks and 3 out of 4 had the bump stops split in 2. Don't know what caused this. I don't bottom out much, but when I was racing last time before I did the upgrade the rear drivers side was rubbing the tire because the car was leaning over too much going in to the turn. i think that is my culpret as half the bump stop on that shock was completely missing.
I know when I put mine on and tried to torque them to spec, they were really getting "fat" so I backed off until they were just slightly rounded. You didn't tighten them too much, did you? - C.
I used the ones from my Z51 shocks, somebody on the forum recomended them, more rubber and they interlock, a better design than the Bilstiens

Hello, I have posted on this before with part numbers.
The Bilstein rubber bumper (on the shaft) will split and the circular rubber will wear oval in the center. Cheap parts. Inexpensive and part of maintenance.
Only advise is to insure you have the shocks, mounting points, suspension bolts and all correctly torqued. "Crows feet" socket (for lack of better terminology) is the tool!
I think this may be a 5000 mile inspection, which is a pain in the butt to do.
Maybe someone could offer insight/ experience about cutting the bumper in half in length, for it seems the piece is spliting under compression pressure.
