Are high performance clutches like high performance tires?
... In that a really good tire will stick better but the trade-off is that the tire will wear out faster. Does a really good clutch have higher grip and holding power but wear out faster?

Depends on the number of shifts. If you do hiway driving you can get an immense number of miles since the is zero wear but tires wear all the time. The Pplate and flywheel take more of a beating. I would say that it is more like comparing to really aggressive brake pads. The bottom line is you get less miles with aggressive driving.

Different clutches will have different friction materials, which may wear out more quickly or last longer. The main difference between a hi-po clutch and a stocker is typically the higher clamping force in a hi-po clutch set-up (actually, the pressure plate), which allows the clutch to hold more power without slipping.

Typically, NO. They do not seem to wear out any faster than a stocker. You do have to remember that you most likely have more HP and that will wear out a clutch much faster also, but the hi-po clutches do not inherantly wear out faster than stockers...
