Depends on the application as well, for instance my stroker will have an abundance of low and mid torque so I am using short fat headers with a simple collector to dump as quick as possible and help with more peak HP in the upper RPM range, so for now I am using Cartek 1 7/8" into a full 3" exhaust with no cats.

Re: What headers are the best? (1 BAD C5)
Hi guys,
Just thought I would put up the latest graph to give some more info with our LG Pro Long Tube headers, and the power they made with just a cam and head.
478rwhp 440 rwtq.
And the second graph is from a 2001 C5 before and after.
from 311rwhp to 350rwhp
Thanks
LG
Here is a graph below from a 2001 C5 with a before and after with our LG pro long tube headers. 311rwhp before and 350 rwhp after
Hey Lou... I take it that is the offroad version? I also take it that you used Edit? Damn good numbers though!!!! 39hp and 50tq!!!! Looks like I will drop the cash sooner than what I was going to!!!!

The "search" function at this site seems to work sporatically, at best. I agree, if one doesn't like a given topic, don't open it, don't read it, etc. This, of course, means that it is nice if the title is representative of thread content. :yesnod:
Such is life in an environment where there are tens of thousands who constantly come and go.
Get over it! :chill: :yesnod:
By the way, this isn't the only redundant thread by any means. I suspect if one factored out absolutely ALL the dupes, there wouldn't be much forum left.
The reason they suggest you do a search is because the same answer comes up everytime & this poll is too subjective. LG shows the best #'s. How many of us voting have had more than one brand on the same car? Everyone either votes for their brand because they don't know any better or LG because it's so highly rated. It doesn't really give you a good answer. I gained 22 hp with SLP's. You need before & after #'s from everyone to gain any knowledge.
There really have been a lot of threads on headers recently. A quick search will get you started. Don't get the "Shorties", they are worthless in terms of giving you any HP/TQ gains. The person that posted that response was just kidding...Wanted to make sure you understood that. I don't have headers on my vette yet but plan to get them in about 1 year (working on getting other mods for now). From what I've read, go with a stainless steel setup such as LGM, Kooks, or SW. Coated headers will start to rust if the coating gets nicked. You need to decide whether you want to go with cats or go with an "off-road" setup. Off road will give you more HP but may cause you problems with passing emissions inspection. From what I've read, LGM headers seem to produce the most HP/TQ at lower RPMs. All 3 headers I've mentioned are probably within 5/10 HP of each other. In addition to HP/TQ gains, you need to look at fit/finish, ease of install, warranty, and your budget. You should also give a couple of local tuners (ECS, Cartek, Vette Drs) a call for their opinion as these guys do this type of install and tune all day long. Good luck  .
:iagree:
If you have a little extra money; go with LGM.
Just bought a set this week. Hoepfully will get them installed in a week or two and see what the actual gains are. If you can wait a few weeks; I'll let you know what I think of them.
I think the biggest difference between the Kooks and LGM is the install time. I think the LGM's are 3-4 hours whereas the Kooks are in the neighborhood of 6-8 hours install time. That to me is worth a lot being the hp/tq gains are about the same for both of them.
A vote for Kooks here....
I traded my SLP Long Tubes/SLP Y-pipe after seeing the way their headers tucked up nice and tight to the floorboards, and witnessing a comparably equipped 01 WS6 putting down 10 more rwhp....
Customer service is top notch...Nick/Jr/Michele are great to deal with....

 :iagree:
custom built 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" stepped headers here
Stainless Works makes a VERY good header at a good price. The KOOKs and LGMs may make a little more hp but at a lot more $$. It's hard to beat Stainless Works performance/price/quality combination. Just my .02 from a satisfied Stainless Works customer.
