Default Valve Springs???

Well I have broken another valve spring on my Cartek 2X LS1 heads. I am not going to take a chance with these springs again. Anyone have any suggestions on which valve springs to buy and where to get them? :U

Try the SLP (Manley) high-perfs. They'll take up to a .600 lift and a 1.1" open pressure.

I would change the valve keepers while you are in there too to the SLP part #66345. Cheap insurance.

Isky 295D's are the best!

we have had 0% failure, we have used the springs with a cams with over 620 lift

the bad thing is you have to find a vendor that sales them(machine shop) for some reason you can not buy direct

I am running the Manley valve kit from MTI with a .581 lift cam and have 5000 miles with no breakage yet.

I'm running the Manley NexTek valvesprings w/titanium retainers I purchased from Scoggin-Dickey. Thousands of miles on them now with a .579 lift on the exhaust side with zero problems.

I would try Isky 295Ds or Comp 987s.

Some TEA Stg 2 5.3s are waiting to go on my car with 987s. We'll see how it goes. What springs did Cartek use?

I agree with getting the Manley's. I broke one of the K- Motions back in April 01 and MTI put all new Manley's in and they have performed great every since.

I don't know what they used but the Vette Doctors did my motor and no problem when road racing.

Cartek used REV springs. I spoke with Dave today and he suggested the Manley springs. He is supposed to let me know how much tomorrow. Hopefully I can get a good price on these since this is my second broke spring in only 4,000 miles and only one time at the track, the rest just normal highway miles!!!

Heres a good one. I ordered stage 2X LS6 heads, the ones with DUAL valve springs. They sent me SINGLE valve spring heads.

That sucks man i have heard now of many failures with the revs. At least the dual spring of the broken rev hopefully saved you form catastrophic failure.

That being said I have done a ton of research lately on aggressive cams and the best springs and in addition to those awesome singly isky springs used with great success by MMT the other top choices are the new
the dual comp 921s (can't recall which exact number but call COMP and they will dial you in) and the new Partriot gold duals and the crane duals, all good for .650 lift and can be used on stock heads without extra machining required. Although the single isky springs sound great i like the peace of mind of runing a dual spring just in case of you know what!!! :U

I use the ISKY 295D.

I think the new Comp 921 might be pretty damn good. They better be for the price.

Comp Cams 26921 Dual Spring Kit - Suitable to .650 lift with more aggressive ramp-rate cams - Kit includes valve springs, titanium retainers, spring seats, valve stem seals and instructions. $560.
