Something is wrong... if you cant get it. Take it to the dealership and they will replace it for you... You really dont want to screw up that line... I did and it was a $600 repair.
Woohoo, got it, although I scuffed up the line pretty bad. I think it was that piece of poopie tool I posted up top. I would not recommend that thing to anyone. I also tried the cheap plastic rings - that didn't work either.
I got one of these, hit it with a hammer a few times and it worked. The others don't have a surface you can get a hammer onto...
p.s. The tech tip says use a 5/16ths tool. On my '99, it required a 3/8ths. :steering:

Some of the newer ones are different, they have plastic squeeze clips instead of the internal spring lock.
Like bowtie, I use the goldish colored one displayed in the later photo.
Sometimes on automatics I remove the left muffler for some more access.
The key in removal is to insert the tool, push the line and the filter TOGETHER then release the tabs by sliding the tool in and then the line comes out easy, fuel pressure should be relived using an approved method beforehand.
If you pull them apart while you push the tool in you will never get it to release, you have to push them together. (the line and the filter)
