Default B&B PRT questions

My girlfriend bought a 2002 EB vert earlier this year (traded in her '95 comp yellow vert) that is completely stock. It is an A4 w/3.15 Performance Axle and Z51 suspension. I bought her a Donaldson Blackwing for Christmas and am currently looking at exhausts.

I have found a local set of B&B PRT's with the Oval tips (same tips that are on my B&B Tri-Flo on my '92) for $450. They are 2 years old and have 15k miles on them. The guy said they still have shiny tips.

I love the B&B's on my C4 (although some resonance below 2k rpm) but have never heard them on a C5. I am aksing for your all's opinion on them. The general rule of thumb is 50% on used exhausts and this is somewhere close to that.

Is this a good deal? Are there resonance problems with the PRT's on an A4? I would think the 3.15 rear end would help a little. How about the overall sound in comparison to others? I love the look of the oval tips on my Tri-Flo's, so we would match when looking at the rear-end. :)

All opinions welcome...

Mike

Mike
From my experience all the aftermarket exhaust have a little resonance.
The PRT have some also, with the addition of an x-pipe it takes the pop out of the prt. I would have to say the PRT is the best all the way around.

I've used the B&B PRT's for several years now. I love mine. I have a 6speed with no xpipe. The only resonance I notice is around 1400 rpm range. But to me it isnt bad at all.

i have prts on my a4 3:15 geared car .there is a drone at about 1500 rpms not bad and i loved the poping when you let off the gas . i now have grizzly long tubes with high flow cats and a x pipe , now the resonance is over welming some times but it sounds so mean at wot i dont want to change the prts . i just leave it in 3rd around town so it doesen't cruise at 1500 rpms   :yesnod:

I've got a set of PRT's on my '04 A4 and they sound great. Very minor resonance at low idle that I notice in my speakers. Very happy with the investment.

My PRT's sound great, and they added alittle more pep to the pedal. I paid $450 for mine used, they where in perfect shape.

I have the PRT's with LG Longtubes headers and they rock. I have heard others with interior resonance but I would say I have very little although the sound is very commanding but not obnoxious.

You'll love the PRT's. I have a 99 A4 and there is virtually no resonance. But when you lay into the throttle  I love mine. You wont be sorry if you go w/ B&B.

Thanks, guys... that's what I wanted to hear! I have had my tri-flo's for 6 years now and they still look great, so I know about B&B's workmanship. I was just a little concerned about the resonance. I could care less about it personally, but this is her car and she drives it about 3k miles/yr.

I think I'm gonna pick 'em up for $450 if they look like they are in good shape.

The PRTs on an A4 with 3.15s (exactly my set up) have a lot of resonance. I've gotten used to it, though. An x-pipe would cut down on it.

The PRT's are killer. I loved mine but I just took mine off because I bought the Borla straight pipes because I want my C5 to be as loud as I can get it. Next LG long tube headers off road version minus cats! So I have some for sale if anyone is interested.
$450 obo.
