I currently have the Corsa Pace Car exhaust with Daytona tips and am considering replacing them with the Z06 Titaniums primarily for weight savings. My question is: Will I lose any hp/tq from going to the titaniums? It wouldn't be worth it to spend $400 to lose 18lbs. and 5hp/6tq. Any opinions?
I have not a back to back dyno but I would not guess you would lose any hp in changing to the Z06 exhaust. It would definatly quiet the car down a bit though :seeya
Sent you an IM. I too am interested in swapping my pace car exhaust for a Z06 exhaust (in my case primarily for sound reduction). Let me know what you find in terms of HP/TQ loss.

Lets keep this going. I would like feedback on this as well. Contrary to popular opinion, sometimes the exhaust can be a bit too loud. FLAME SUIT ON!!!

Thanks for coming out and saying it. I didn't have my flame suit handy so I skirted the issue intentionally ;-)
My Corsa Pace Car by itself was OK, but once the headers, xpipe, random tech cats, and supercharger were installed this car hurts my ears. And yes, I run it hard almost every day.
On the bright side, with the 1000 watt stereo turned way up I can barely hear the car....
I have been there, done that and will do it again!!!!
Swapped from Pace to Ti and I measured the weight difference at 22 lbs.
I did not do dynos. However, I ran quicker in the quarter after putting in the Ti and removing the Pace and my head thanked me for it because it is TOO loud for me. If you lost anything I highly doubt you will miss it. If it is drag racing you are doing then the weight saving will make up for any loss if any.
I currently have Stingers on the car but it is only a test and the sound is too unbearable so the Ti's will go back in soon.
Dave Hill himself will tell you the gain from stock to aftermarket is minimal.
By the time the exhaust gasses have reached the muffler system, they have cooled enough so that the difference between the two systems would be negligible. As I have been following the LGM headers threads, it appears that all the volume is needed far upstream from the over axle pipes. I think that is why LGM uses a true 3" pipe to that point.
When I changed from the Borla Stingers to the Z06 ehaust, I definately noticed a loss of power. Not sure how much since I don't have a dyno handy but enough to fell it. I was a bit dissappointed but my ears were thanking me :yesnod:
I just bought a set of Z06 TI's from a guy with a '02 Z06 head/cam car (440 RWHP) who swapped over to Borla Stingers. He dynoed before and after and reported with the Borlas he picked up a wopping 2 HP!!! The TI system does flow pretty well.
Other than waiting for someone to have a set of 'drops' for sale from their modded Z06, does anyone know how much the system costs over the GM parts counter?
I'm going to be doing some major modding on my car in a couple of months. I was planning on the TI exhaust as well. Actually, I didn't think the tone of my stock exhuast was all that bad. But, I'll probably go with long tubes with TI and a X or H pipe.
Ti's sound nice. A guy came through a while back and rode in my car (a car-guy, but not a Vette fan). He mentioned how well it sounded 3 times before he left. I've noticed that the ti's seem to sound a little different as they "season" for some reason. Also, the UPS man waited around til I peeled of the miles of bubble-wrap mine came in to see exactly what they were. He said the guys at the dock were curious knowing I get a lot of car parts but these seemed too light and too strangely shaped. Now you know why your delivery is sometimes late!
As for lost power, how much have you modded? I don't think you'll see a difference on most cars without some serious intake changes, etc.
Personally, I'm really pleased there are those who will remove a perfectly good, $2600 stock ti system and put on a noisy $1000 replacement, and "give away" the ti's! :hurray: :lolg: All for more noise and little else in most cases.
Oh yeah, the ti's fit correctly and are not in danger of cooking assorted plastic bits, as some aftermarket are known for. Even the tips are welded off-center of the pipes to allow more room between them and the body work.
