My 99 Frc is sounding terrible. I have TPIS LT's, stock cats and a magnaflow x pipe. The vibration from exhaust pulses at and through 2900 rpm is frustrating. I thought it was resonance from the exhaust and have tried BB route 66, Z06 Ti's and now back to stock! Still, there is a big harmonic effect. I'm about to sell my favorite car out of sheer frustration. The local Big Name shops (no names) are disingenous and have steered me way wrong. The last trip ended up with the owner saying..."thats the way it should sound" "X"tremely un-professional! (He loved taking my cash however!) Any Thoughts. It seems to me that the hodge-podge of pieces and parts are at fault...I'm thinking Random cats plus their midsection pipe and a Corsa system. I don't want to throw more money at this car. ANY Advice appreciated. Happy Holidays.
Re: Help!!Car sounds like a big tuning fork!! (JJF)
Sounds like (pun intended :jester ) you might have something touching underneath and it is transmitting the noise. Some times those boZo's just throw them up and never check them. I have the Corsa Indys and the new LG long tubes with the three inch system and no problems. I had the B&B triflows with a Bassini X before that and no problems.
Could also be something loose in the system as well. I would go through it myself with a fine tooth comb before In did any thing too radical. Look for ANYWHERE that system can touch a body of frame component. No matter how slight, sometimes just a small clearance.
The Bassini X pipes come through with this neat little tag welded on to the X and one side of the metal tag came loose. It drove me nuts for a couple of weeks to run down what the hell it was. I would look right at it on the lift and it looked fine. (that is just an example).

Have you given an consideration to adding some sound dampening material to your car? I did my entire interior and it made quiet a difference. Many posts here about material to use; do a search. :) Shoot me an e-mail if you want to know what I did; glad to help. :yesnod:
Re: Help!!Car sounds like a big tuning fork!! (JJF)
I have the FLP header system which includes the LT's, hi flo cats and the x pipe. I am vey happy with them now however in the begining I had the Corsa Indy's and they sounded like crap with an M6. To much burble, resonation and popping. Then I switched to the Bassani and what a difference. No resonation, no more popping than stock, mellow at part throttle and great wot sound.
As far as fixing your car, I would raise it and check out the exhaust from front to back. If thats good then go back to the shop where you purchased them and tell them you are unsatisfied and want to start over. They are reputable and will want to make it right. Copy the system I have you won't be disappointed. BTW they (un-named shop) installed most of my mods and have done a great job. I have done some of my own work and been under my car many times and have found no problems with their work. As a matter of fact the FLP system, although a tight fit, is a very weel designed system for the C-5. Coupled with the quality of the Bassani cat back this exhaust is hard to beat! Do not sell your car! :smash:

I have TPIS LTs, Random Tech cats and x-pipe into Corsa Tourings. Even with the big motor, the car is nearly stock quiet until you get the revs up around 3000 and then it starts to scream. Just a tiny bit of resonance around 1500 rpm but not at all annoying. Sorry you're having such a problem. Good luck with the fix!
