Project advice needed: Cam/lifter swap.
Have a suscpected bad stock lifter, so am getting ready to start taking off the heads to have a see. Already have a set of Comp Cam lifers 850-16 (thanks Phil97SVT) and am planning on upgrading the cam to the compcam 220/224.
First anything special to look for? Car is making a loud tap, matching RPMs, and the shop said it was definately #8, they adjusted the rocker all the way down, which helped some, problem is still there.
Getting ready to start putting my shopping list together for this, bolts, gaskets, etc. plus the cam, UD pulley, double roller timing chain. Undecided on whether to to use the stock ls6 springs or the comp 918's. Also considering fuel injectors and an adjustable fuel pressure regulater, but not sure the money is there anyway. Would be a good time to do or work the heads, but again, the money isn't there.
So any suggestions on what to keep my eyes open for, or on particular parts or sources for the shopping list, please chime in.
