Default oil pressure high

When I started my car this morning my oil presure gauge topped out at 80 and the computer showed it at 130psi. Can anyone tell me what might cause this?

You might have a bad sending unit. I did earlier this year. But mine read zero on the gauge and XXX on the DIC. Mechanic said he'd replaced 5 of them this year. Worth having it checked. Seeing zero on the gauge is a scary sight. Especially when you're coasting down pit road after making pass at the track.

My car did the same thing- it is very common. Make sure you replace it with a good quality unit. It is a PIA and the one I put in went bad in three days!! :mad

Welcome to the forum... there is a tech tip in the tech tip section.... go to the top of this page.. click on tools them C5, then Tech tips, then look for "Replacing oil sending unit"... the job takes less than an hour... the dealer wants. 250 to 350 to fix it... the part cost is 35 dollars.. or you could do it yourself... following the tech tip and getting the New ( see the part # ) improved sending unit..
I've done two of these , the first took an hour, the second took 45 minutes,,, complete..

:iagree:

If you have a warranty, let dealer fix. Mine needed replacing as soon as I picked the car up. Otherwise, you can save some $$ doing yourself.
