Whether the G5X2 is for you or not depends on you. What is streetable to one person is not streetable to someone else especially with such a big cam. One thing you will have to do for sure is change valve springs more frequently with this cam because of it's high lift. If you don't mind changing valve springs more frequently and if your willing to get your car tuned after the installation. The G5X2 is streetable in my opinion, but don't expect it to have the street manners of your stock cam.

I have had the G5X1 and G5X2. The ONLY reason I would find the X2 unstretable is because it has a tendancy to buck under 1400rpm. Other than that, its fine. The X1 was fine until about 1050rpm.

A friend of mine has an X1 in his daily driven Z06 and it drives perfect.

Most of these BIG cams can be tuned to be very streetable, BUT, they will lope and the idle rpm's will not be 650, more like 850 rpms or higher. Streetable to me means passing emissions, no cold/hot start problems, idle rpms that are not so high that it sounds like a Pro Stock car at the starting line and reasonable gas mileage. Mine sounds like a Harley at the stop light, very

My advice would be to find someone that has a big cam and go listen to it, ride in the car etc. A big cam usually means big HP and performance. If you donÂ’t need that, then one of the milder cams still will give you a gob of HP and sound like stock. There are a bunch of those out there.

Look at this post.

Godspeed (Jeremy) of LG Motorsports put their G5-X3 cam (along with LTs) in his Z06. Very good results and I bet he will be more than happy to tell you all about it. The post is very interesting.

You going to be at Hallsville Jan. 3? We want to go if we have cool weather. My roll bars will not be in yet, but we want to run again if the weather is better  than the last time we were there for the 10.73 :D

It's all about the tuning. I have the G5X-3 on a 114 in my 03 Z06 and there is no bucking or surging at all when driving. I've had to put the idle at 950 and the only difference is there a lope at idle. Once you are driving you can't tell the difference from stock at cruising until you get on it and it just keeps on pulling!

I don't think anyone has touched on the fact that with such a big cam your springs are going to take a big hit. Try driving one of these cars with these big cams everyday for a year or so and see how your springs are. I mean you can't tell me that your springs don't have to be changed out every year or so.

Here is a clip after my cam install - G5X-3 on a 114.
http://64.83.80.220/pics/idle.wmv

We are running a special on the LG Cam Only package installed and tuned right now for 2295.00. The package includes top of the link Comp 921 double springs that we have not had any issues with.

Sounds good to me. Thats how a car with a cam in it should sound. Also if you have a stock or Z06 catback, the car will sound like a stock car. My friend had a Z06 catback on his cam only cartek car and it sounded stock....he put the GHLs on and it sounded similar to that clip. Just a little less aggressive since the cartek cam is smaller.

Jeremy that sounds awesome. What are the specs on that cam? How much does the cam go for outright? Thanks, Kaley

I have had my G5x1 for 2 years and haven't had to touch the valvetrain at all. That's with 918 springs.
