Check Engine Light came on. Can someone help me?

Check Engine Light came on. Can someone help me?
Last night on my way home it just came on all of a sudden as I was cruising at around 55 mph. I've done mods, but they were done months ago with no problems. Is there anything I should check myself before taking it to the dealership to make sure everything is OK? In the upcoming days I'm going to check my fuses as I've heard that certain fuses burning out can cause the check engine light to come on. Thanks for any info.

Try removing and and then just retightening the gas cap. Think back did it come on just after a gas stop? Mine has done this twice and I just didn't get the gas cap on correctly. :crazy:

usually the check engine light indicates an emission control system problem. i would check for codes as mr corvette suggested.
it could be something simple like C5 snowboarder suggested, or you used a different brand of fuel, something came loose under the hood or could indicate a problem with an oxygen sensor.

Well, the light went off just as suddenly as it appeared. My guess is it came one because of switching fuel types. I've always used Amoco but I was near empty late one night and had to get gas from another place. The next night my light came on.
