Default Math formula for calculating 0-60

Some folks have asked how fast can you 0-60 in. Well, if you want to figure it out, here is the formula for doing so. 1) At a drag strip a mid 9 second car will cover 0 to 60 in less then 1.36 seconds or roughly equivalent to your 60' time. MotorTrend never specified that you "couldn't" use the transbrake!

The formula is X = Xo + 1/2 *(Vo + V) * t where:

X = 60 feet in this problem
Xo = Your starting distance. Set that equal to zero.
V = Final velocity. What we are trying to compute.
Vo = Initial velocity. Set this to zero since we are stopped.
t = Time. The 60 foot time from your slip.

This reduces to 60 feet = 0 + 1/2 * (0 + V) * t, which can be further reduced to
60 = 1/2 * t * V

Solving for V you get: V = 2 * 60/t or V = 120 / t

The answer is in ft / second. To convert multiply answer by 0.68181818.

The formula calculates the mph at the end of traveling 60 feet, not the amount of time needed to accelerate from 0 to 60 mphs. Nice neverless :)
