I "think" I've finally made my decision to go with the GHL Exhaust with 3.5 tips (still thinking about Corsa Touring also). I looked on LAPD website and other vendors here and couldn't find them. I found them on other websites, but nothing here on the forum. Any problems with the GHL exhaust that I'm not aware of????
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
(Y2Kvert4me) I've read some archives about exhaust systems and all indicate "NO" resonance...period, with the GHL's. Do you still feel the same after having them on for a year?? Still able to carry on a normal conversation and hear the radio?
WesC5...I just installed my GHL 3.5 inch tips today. Bought them from Bill at Xtreme - a very nice guy.
Be aware that while there is no resonance...it's still pretty freakin' loud. You'll definitely notice it anytime that you touch the throttle. I was debating between this one and the Z06 Titanium. The Z06 TI really only is different than stock at idle...and at full throttle. Other than that, I barely noticed it. Decided that if I'm gonna bother with an exhaust...I want to at least hear what I paid for.
The GHLs have a nice throaty sound to them. The wife didn't seem to p'd off by them, so I guess they've gotten the stamp of approval. I suggest going with the 3.5 Round tips - not the bullets. From a distance, the bullets appear somewhat black in color - almost unnoticeable. But again, people's tastes differ. To me, it's quite a bit louder on the freeway - at least if you're touching the gas pedal. Off the gas pedal - it's like stock. It's got a better idle too, but not overwhelming.
I also went with the Magnaflow x-pipe. I have absolutely no popping whatsoever. That was my major concern. I don't get any resonance either. My installer did complain that the Magnaflow x-pipe was nearly impossible to line up with the GHLs...but eventually got it to fit. I love the sound of revving the engine though...it's absolutely awesome. You'll scare some rice rockets right out of their pants. No raspiness like the Corsas either. Just a deep and meaty sound.
Shoot me an IM if you have any questions.

I just got my GHLs New Years Eve. They are clean and well made. But I can tell they are going to be a little loud. Im pumping the exhausts through Kooks long tube headers.
I had corsa's when I added my blower we dyno'd dropped the crosa's off, bolted on the GHL's and I got 18 more rwhp and similar torque, I highly recommend the GHL's for sound and for power gains, they only offer about 6 to 7 rwhp on a stock ls1 but will grow with each mod you add, they were designed with the mod head in mind--you will be pleased with your choice.
At idle, they sound great! Give it any throttle and they come to life, at WOT, watch out, they are LOUD. My brother has them on his SC '03 ZO6, I can tell him which route he takes when he leaves my house, for at least a mile!!! I personally love the sound, haven't heard anything better, but they are loud and you will turn heads!!!
(SCCA Auto X in our area has sounds limitations, (93 db's); his car usually reads 98 - 101 depending where the monitor is located.)
I agree with stros completely. Installed the 4" quad tips in early December, and really enjoy them. However, they are a little louder under normal acceleration than I had expected. I highly suggest that you ride with someone who has GHL's installed in order to get a true feel for them. The nice thing is that they are completely quiet when cruising, whether on the streets or on the highway. I also installed the Magnaflow x-pipe, and have not had any popping on deceleration whatsoever. Best of luck in your decision!!
;)
I have the 3.5" round rolled tips.. IMO they're the perfect match for the C5. They sit flush with the rear fascia and are just a nice match. The 4" tips hang down a little due to that large "ricer" size (sorry.. I know it's NOT ricer on a Corvette.. but quad 4" tips just sounds to rice for me).
The quality of GHL's system is the best on the market. Beautiful TIG welds, and very high quality T-304 stainless steel. It's a little heavier than the Z06 exhaust... but you get more performance out of this system. It sounds very good as well. I'm running the FLP headers, hi flow cats, and an x-pipe as well in my A4 car and ran a 12.6 1/4m!! So obviously this exhaust gives quite a performance gain :). It REALLY compliments the very high performance cars (such as the LPE 427TT) that requires the maximum amount of air-flow. Do it right and get the GHLs.. just choose the tips that best fit your opinion.
I installed the Forum GP dual 4" tip GHL system in December and I couldn't be happier. No noticeable difference at freeway crusing from the stock but at idle or during acceleration, it turns heads. Just like I remember my '56 Chev.
Don't be so sure it's not louder on the freeway. :smash: My 98 vert definitely is louder on the freeway. I think I have the same setup as most of your 2001+ guys (got the Magnaflow x-pipe). I'm not sure of all the differences between the different years, but there is a noticeable sound difference between the older and newer C5s. The older ones are louder on and off the freeway from my experience with the GHLs.
