Well we just dynoed our 01 vette with a blackwing and throttle body and new exhaust except headers and X-pipe. I was just wondering if the normal dyno for an LS1 is around 300 horse. Ours was around 292 horsepower but around 297 torque but it was a nice arch though. Just wondering what your guys' dynoed at?
dynos vary alot.....especially between brands....i dyno'd on a mustang at 371 and drove straight to my normal dyno (dynajet) and hit 472 on the first run...my stomach was sick when i left the mustang dyno(thinking to self ...all this work and thats all the HP i get)but i felt a lot better after using my normal dyno shop

Is this on an A4 or M6? Mine completely stock, no mods at all dyno'd 307hp/317tq with an A/F ratio of 11.5:1 - and keep in mind I have an LS1 intake manifold vs the LS6 intake. What was your A/F? Pwtr frc, with an vortex intake and Borla Stingers made 327rwhp, and he also has a 99 FRC.
Here are the results from my dyno runs. The exhaust was still stock at the time. They did 5 dyno pulls. The first 2 are with the stock air box and factory filter. Pulls 3,4+5 are with the Widemouth.
Dyno pull 1 = 299.3 rwhp
305.2 rwtq
Dyno pull 2 = 294.2 rwhp
299.9 rwtq
Dyno pull 3 = 311.6 rwhp
316.8 rwtq
Dyno pull 4 = 312.8 rwhp
319.8 rwtq
Dyno pull 5 = 313.3 rwhp
321.1 rwtq.
I figure for 200 bucks this is not to bad. Overall i am impressed. Also it really brings out the sound of the engine. I can feel a difference. Maybe it is just because I want to feel it.
I just think Its Bull crap that most of the suppliers of bolt on parts a lying to us about the HP gains their product. I encorage all that have dynos with bolt ons to post their gains and on some cases losses, so we all stop buying products like the Vararam with its HP gains of 40 HP, or the GMAF with there gains. Im sure they MADE a car or two with such gains. A corvette magazine dyno Vararam and should it 12 RWHP.

well phills they probably rated the horsepower gain after it got tuned which i have not done yet so stop getting all annsey. I know a guy who did less than I did but put headers on but no full exhaust and he had it tuned and it came out like 322rwhp. So you would have to get it tuned. Which I am in the process of doing when I find a local tuner. Or in OKC :nono:

Phil, I changed to a VARARAM from a Blackwing and went 3/10's and 3 mph faster. A dyno will not show the true VARARAM gain. It's an open cold air intake. :chill:

If you check out my web page you can see dyno runs for about 100 cars that have attended the dynodays that I have hosted. Each of the four dynodays were about six months apart so you can see how the the same cars improved with modifications.
It was an afternoon run and we did a pull right away then let the engine cool down and the peak horsepower wasnt on the cool run but the cool run had better torque and curve
There is definitely a lot of difference from one dyno to another, I've decided to always use the same one each time I do any mods. My 1999 bone stock FRC pulled 319.6 RWHP, I've since added Andy's (A&A Corvette, Andy rocks!!!) stage II heads and cam, FLP Headers, ZO6 Intake, removed the cats and added an aluminum flywheel, also changed to 3:90's which will actually rob a few RWHP. Anyhow, my new dyno (did it today!) was 393.6 RWHP. A lot of people will try to add up HP in a cumulative manner (ie. intake 10, headers 15, heads 50 so I should have another 75, just doesn't work that way, plus most HP quotes for mods are quoted at the flywheel and not RWHP).
