You might want to check if your A/C condensation drain line is blocked/kinked. It is located on the firewall on the passenger side (relatively easy to see from the bottom). If this line is blocked, water builds up in the fan area and eventually the fan starts hitting it and making noise.
Even a tiny pine needle can make a noise if it enters the blower box.
One needs to be a little limber, but it is easy to remove the box from under the pass. dash. Note the position of the rubber tube and a seal on the top. Also I recall one electrical connector & three nuts.
Then look for debris between the fan and box. Clean it out and re-assemble. They may be a procdure in the search history.
The bearings in the old blower motors kinda sucked and apparently failed on a few peoples cars, including mine (at first I thought it was leaves, but upon inspection it turns out it was the bearing).
Anyway, it cost like $100-$200 (cant remember) at most to buy the part, and it took me maybe half an hour to replace it. Its held in with something like 3 hex head screws, and drops right out from under the passengers side of the dash. SIMPLE!
I was going to do a "howto" on it, but it turned out to be too easy to make it really worthwhile.
