It seems there is no such thing as an "easy intallation" Actually the pooblem I am having is due to lack of info from B&M. At the front of the stock shifter there is a 1/8" dia L shaped pin inserted it the casting that guides the shift rod. It is furher held in place by a bracket rivited to the shifter plate. Does this need to be left in place or removed? Im wondering if it is a limiter for how far forward the shift rod goes. Of course there is no 800 number to call B&M to find out. I am going to get in touch with shawn at LAPD where I got the shifter from to see if he knows but being a holiday I guess the car will be sitting in the garage unless someone out there knows. Anybody?????
That was my first impulse. But doesnt your hurst shifter have adjustments to limit how far the throw is? The B&M doesnt have this anymore. I dont know if it is even an issue but sometimes a simple thing like this pin can be important. The bracket on the stock shifter is pretty substantial for some reason. The only way to hold it in without it is probly a dab of JB weld. I would much rather leave it out. Even then the hole should be sealed as it goes thru into the shift rod guide and could get dirt or water thru it.
I wound up leaving it out. I got up real close and looked into the place where the pin was and could see the shift rod had a hole drilled it it as well. putting the pin in locks the shaft and it wont move at all. I wonder if it was ment to be a theft deterrent of some sort. So I put a dab of silicone over the hole to keep the dirt out and put it back together. I think the throw is reduced a lot more than they said it would be. Thanks for the help :steering:  BTW shawn from LAPD got back to me today as well. Good customer service and on a holiday yet. Thanks Shawn
