Re: Need help on wiring with PIAA light install. (Longhorn FRC)
I wired up a couple ZO6's a few weeks ago. Had the same problem, when you lift off the top of the fuse block make sure you grabbed the right purple wire. On the first car it went fine, second car relay would engage however no light. Turns out i grabbed the wrong purple wire. YES THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE PURPLE WIRE. Bothered the heck outta me until i looked and noticed the wires. Bob
Re: Need help on wiring with PIAA light install. (16Again)
while I am now sure that I tapped the wrong wire, neither purple wire carries 12v when I hit the switch with the lights on. I think there is something definitely wrong with my factory wiring, and I will look into it more tomorrow.
Thanks for your help Bob, and I'll update the thread tomorrow with my findings.
Re: Need help on wiring with PIAA light install. (Longhorn FRC)
OK:
I have found the place where my purple wire should be!
As dpd stated, the wire I want is directly under my #6 fuse. While there IS a purple wire in that vicinity, it isn't the right one. Using sophisticated testing technology (paper clip jammed in hole in fuse box touched with light bulb tester) I have found the place where my wire should be.
Now my question is this - what kind of connector do I need to be able to run a wire from this point to wherever it should be connected to power the light in the switch? OR - does the switch just need a constant 12v and will light itself as long as this is provided at pin 5 where the purple wire should be?
So, does anyone know what type of connector I need?
