Default Cylinder numbering question

OK, this is a stupid question. I keep getting mixed up betwen ford and chevy and now I can't remember for sure.

Is the #1 cylinder the one on the drivers side towards the front of the car? And then #2 is on the passenger side toward the front of the car? All evens on passenger and all odds on drivers?

I'm pretty sure this is correct for chevy. Can someone just verify this for me.

Rich,

Your drawing is correct on the numbering of the cylinders on the LS1 and LS6 engines, but the firing order is as follows:

1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3

Thanks! It's a little scary that ALLDATA showed in wrong on the drawing, which I posted, but has it correct in the specifications!
