Default Oil Pressure Sending unit part number

My car is a 99 C5. Anyone know the part number?

I went to the dealer and spent about 20 minutes there while the counter monkey looked at his computer screen, the bastard couldn't find the right part. Went home and looked on the web, and the search function on GM Parts Direct wasn't working, so I googled around and found 1256226. I looked that up on GM parts direct, and it came up as "Engine Oil Pressure/Temperature Hardware", so I ordered it. It came in, and I took the intake manifold off, and there is no sensor that looks anything like what I've got.

Please post the correct part number if you're got it.
Thanks.

Thanks very much. I searched through tons of posts, but didn't think to check the tech tips.

For some reason, that part number doesn't show up on GM Parts direct. Guess I'll go back to the chevy dealer.

The part # for the pressure sensor is 12573107.
Do not buy from GM partsdirect please. I tried to get this sensor from them and they sent me the wrong one......in the end they wouldnt refund my money. Get it from Bob Wendorff at Fichtner Chevy www.fichtnerchevrolet.com
Bob is a real good guy to deal with!!
Good luck

Evil Twin's post in tech tips had part number 12562230, and number 12561832, 8289a printed on the sensor itself.

I just took mine off, and it says 2561832, 8231a. I assume the leading "1" is underneath the gouges made by my vice-grips  I didn't have a deep 27mm socket handy, which is why I wasn't going to take it off tonight, but the difference in part numbers got me curious.

I guess I will try another dealer in person tomorrow, and see if I have better luck. Hopefully with the part numbers from both of you, and the actual sensor in my hand, the parts counter will be able to figure out what I need.

Thanks.

Hi all,
I tried to do the oil pressure sensor changeout today and had a helluva time attempting it. I finally just quit after trying to get the intake off the damn thing. I have a '97 and tried to follow the directions in tech tips, but there are so many things in the way on my engine. How the H3LL do I do this ? The bolt on the driver side underneath the cowl is just a PITA to get to. Can someone point me to more precise directions, please? It's not as easy as the tech tips description or else I'm really making it harder than it sounds.

It's a big PITA with just a normal wrench, but if you have a gearwrench it's a snap. It felt like I spent a half hour on those back bolts alone with a normal wrench, it's like 30 seconds now with a gear wrench. They have them at Sears, or Lowes, lots of other places too. I'd stick to Craftsmen or "GearWrench" brand, if you are going to get a set. They are just like a normal wrench, except the box end has a ratcheting mechanism built in. Very handy for tigth spots.

Also, all the bolts can come out except the back too. Once they are unthreaded, you have to hold them both up, and slide the intake forward. Once the bolts clear the cowl area, you can pull them clear and lift the intake off. It's all explained with pictures in the instructions below.l

JmX has really good howto guides. Doesn't look like there is one just for the intake, but taking the intake manifold off is the first part of the PCV system swap: http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=18

The only thing I do different is, instead of removing the fuel line from the fuel rails, I (after disconnecting all fuel rail bolts) pop the injectors and rails out of the manifold all together. You wiggle one side out, then the other, and then the whole thing rotates out of the way. That way you don't lose any fuel. There's a small chance you might nick an injector o-ring, but I never have so far.

The part number I have posted is for the new improved sensor.. other bought the original part number and the sensor failed them in a few months... secondly.. the two bolt under the cowl, are obviously tight.. if I posted every little nuance to this fix it would be two pages long... lift the bolts up to the cowl and put a piece of masking tape on the exposed part to keep them from falling down.. also you do NOT need to remove the fuel lines... you only need to move the intake 6 in. forward.. this job takes 45 minutes.. if you have mechanical skills and the right tools.. you can not do this job with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers.. I guess some people need instructions on removing the fuel rail covers... Since I've posted this tech tip, I have received 36 positive and thankful replies.
