I dropped my car off at the dealer to fix my fuel gage. He offered the 30,000 mile service to me. The car only has 26000 miles so I indicated that I would wait. What I really want to know is if that service is really worth it. He indicated that they open the transmission and change the fluids. I have heard many mechanics who advise not to fool with the transmission if it is not given a problem. The service mananger also indicated all the stuff that is done to the car. many i do not need because I have done them recently. ie tire balance, blackwing filter etc. Transmission and coolant I have not done. Any advise would be helpful. He indicated that automatic transmission and coolant change would be 270.00 dollars. Thanks
270.00 seems a little steep for that, did he explain what exactly they where going to do?
Our Trans services our 79 and some change and coolant change is under 75.
Now we also offer trans' flushes which jumps the price up but it does include up to 16 quarts of trans fluid and yes it does change all the fluid in the system.
Did they also give you a break down of what the 30k includes?
Your tranny fluid should be good for at least 50k. The coolant and hydraulic fluids should be changed every two years under normal driving conditions. My .02  :seeya

:iagree: Also, you may want to look at changing out the fuel filter out if you hadn't already
Read the manual. It says what you need to do at this point. Don't go by what the dealer suggests, as the dealer's goal in this case is to make money. (Big surprise.)

:iagree: They are just after your bucks!! If you've been changing your oil in accordance with the DIC or more often and changed the air filter (Yea, Blackwing), there is no scheduled maintenance. You might want to check your plugs, as the factory Delcos have a history of losing electrode pucks, but your fluids should still be good. :auto:
