Default ? LS1 or LS6

Been awhile since I have dealt with piston engines. What is the main differance between them as far as power stock? I am looking at doing a project in the next year and not sure which way to go. Sorry if this is in the wrong area but seemed like the place to post it.

Thanks
Gery

from 2001 and up there is no LS1 block.. All blocks are LS6. Note the engine in the Z06 (405 hp LS6) make more power due to different heads, rods, and cam. If you did the same mods to to a 2002 LS1 (adding LS6 heads, cam, etc) you would be at Z06 power, but the z06 would still win the race due to the different gear ratios in the tranny and wieght of the vehicle (driver being the same)

If i was to go manual... I would say go m12. If you want to stay automagic then get the slush box and add a torque converter (something over 3k stall) and some 3:73 gears to have some real fun.
