I have a 98 coupe with 70K miles on it. Less than 2k ago, I had the dealer replace the syncos in the transmission under GMPP. My clutch has now started to slip badly in 1st gear. My questions are:
1) The dealer quoted me almost $1800 for new clutch--is this in range?
2) I had asked them to check the clutch when they did the transmission, they did not. Could I have saved money if they had done the clutch at the same time? Could they have checked it easily? I need to know if I need to make a plea for reduced cost to repair now.
I had some gear work done under warranty recently and the dealer offered to put a new clutch in for $700 - I didnt do it as I have 43k on mine but I was glad to see they werent too expensive on it. Also I have been told you want ot get the slave cylinder and master cylinder replaced as well. The clutch is more of a package that includes the flywheel.

For a stock car the GM clutch seems to be fine - maybe some of the Gurus can chime in on this. Just speaking from what I have been reading on here as I was thinking about having the clutch done as well but decided to hold off because it did not really need to be done. Money I can put into newe tires/mods :steering:
