Default Maximum Wheel size without performance sacrficed?

What is the maximum wheel size front and back including width considerations before acceleration and braking characteristics are sacrificed with a stock C5 power set up.
It has been suggested to me that 18 X 9.5 fronts and 19 X 11 rears are the best arrangement.
What is your experience?
Thanks, Tom.

That seems to be a popular set up. I guess it depends on how you are using the car. For auto X and open track i love 18's all the way around, very predictable turning and cornering. for a drag set up you want to stay with 17's in the back .

I have 18" all around and performs well. I'm upgrading for the "bling bling" look with 19/20. 305 rear and 265 fornt. 18" will be for the track days.

I want the deeper dish look, which the large diameter rim provides with the wide tread.
For me it’s all about the aggressive look.
But I want to be sure I don’t screw up the performance.

I also am interested in what those with the 18 front 19 rear combination have to say. The C6 is going with this combination and I wonder if this is a good choice that balances the performance versus looks aspect of things.

The one problem as of now is that you cannot get anything over a 305 width in 19" that does not require tubbing and even now just Pirelli I believe. i.e. what we need is a 325/30-19 or 335/30-19 tire from a couple of vendors. This will likely come when C6's start to appear.

From what I have read on ths forum a 11.5 inch wide rim with 335" is the widest for the rear and you likely do not want to go wider than a 10 inch rim on the front with 275 or 285 at the most. Some suggest that 265 is best.
