Does anyone have any photos and sound bites of the GHL muffler system on a Z06 they could share?
Thanks in advance,
See http://www.thx2.net/exhaust.htm. The site gives a few links to videos w/ o.k. sound. Of course, IMHO I don't think one can really tell what the sound's like w/o being there in person.
Good luck on the search!
p.s.--I too am in the hunt for some good sounds to eval before purchasing (Corsa, B&B, Borla, GHL, etc.) If I find better sound/vid clips I'll repost. Cheers!
Keep in mind my car also has LT headers, X-pipe and no cats, so it's quite a bit louder than a car with cats...But it's still a very good representation of the sound and tonal quality.
Not much for pics, but this is what the 4" tips look like:
The polished finish has held up very well...I've had the system on my car for well over a year, and it looks and shines like new.
I love the sound, get tons of compliments on it, plus it's quiet as stock inside while cruising on the freeway. The quality, fit and finish is the best you'll find.
I would buy it again without hesitation.
I've had my GHL's for over a year, and couldn't be happier. The sound of the system is awesome at both idle and WOT (I switched from Corsa Indy's, which sounded great at WOT, but not so great at idle), with no resonance. The quality of the GHL's is also first-rate - the polished stainless finish looks fantastic, everything fits perfectly, and I've had no problems whatsoever over the course of the past year. Plus you can swap out the tips easily enough if you get tired of what you have, or if GHL comes out with something newer and cooler :D.
Finally, GHL's customer service is also great. When I initially received my mufflers from GHL, I found a couple of scratches...I called them on the phone to let them know, and they basically forced me to take a new set (I was pretty much planning on keeping the scratched mufflers, because the scratches weren't that big of a deal, and they'd be under the car!). Instead, they not only insisted on making me a new set and sending them out right away, but they also told me to go ahead and use the scratched set for the rest of the winter (I think I got the GHL's in Dec. of '02) since they didn't want the new set to get marked up by ice or snow! I compare that with most companies who either wouldn't replace the mufflers to begin with, would complain about it, or would insist on getting the "old" parts back before sending out the new ones, and in my mnd GHL is the only way to go.

Customer service is very important to us. If the customer is not happy we are not happy.
I always chime in on these GHL exhaust threads, because this system is simply the best sounding exhaust you can put on your car, bar none.
Many people echo my sentiments as well...
Each & EVERY time I'm in my car, someone will ask me what exhaust system I have, weather they hear me screaming down the track, or just cruising on the boulevard... IT SOUNDS SO GOOD!
The absolute #1 best thing about the GHL exhaust is that there is NO INTERIOR DRONE OR RESONANCE so common with ALL OTHER aftermarket exhaust systems.... :yesnod:
So now, its MY choice to listen to my sweet sound system, or the awesome sound of the GHL's, or just have a conversation with who ever is in the passenger seat... :smash:
Here's a NEWSFLASH!!!!! As I was typing this, I get a call from a customer at the dealership where my car is being serviced to ask me PERSONALLY what exhaust I had! Seems he heard it start as it got pulled into the bay, and was asking the tech who's car & what exhaust etc.....
Another GHL customer on the way!
My advice, if you want the BEST for your car, get the GHL's....
Extremely pleased with the sound and quality. The customer service is awesome too. I got mine and the band clamps that were sent wouldn't tighten enough and I ended up breaking them, no bid deal. I called just to let them know and had to talk the lady out of sending new ones. I had already put u-bolt clamps on and I'm not one to get pissy about that anyway. They have since changed the style of clamps and you shouldn't have any problems. Would I buy again, oh hell yeah!
The main difference is the size of the muffler can. The Bullet system features a 6 inch muffler cylander, the non-resonating system at cruise.
The Magnum system features a 5 inch muffler cylander, a hint of resonation at cruise. The tips are 4 inch double wall which are purchased and not hand manufactured. This was part of our R&D which led to the Bullet. We agreed to offer this system due to many request not only for an economical system but also go up against the big company for selling a product incredibly similar to our design.

The biggest problem with installing exhaust yourself is getting the rear high enough (3 or 4ft??) so that you do not have to cut the factory over axle pipes. If you don't mind cutting the factory system its not that bad. No welding is required.
Do you have any sound clips or dyno information on a Z06? I am interested mainly in sound but I do compete in this car so I don't want a drop in torque or horsepower.
Okay, not interested on getting into a debate about manufacturers...and any bad blood between them. When the manufacturers bicker, they lose credibility. (Not that they have, they've been really good about it.)
That said. Not too worried about the resonance thing, but no resonance is better than lots of resonance. I'm looking for loud, deep exhaust. I'm getting LGM headers. I have Corsa indies. I'm gonna keep them and just switch back and forth as I feel like it. I was looking at Borla Stingers, now I'm comparing the GHL Magnums. Has anyone had both? Which one is louder....which one sounds better. I'm trying to get away from the raspy sounds of the Corsas for track use. I'm looking at dual tips, too. I read a reference about changable tips...what was that about?
Thanks!
