From what I've read in the archives I'm pretty sure my motors are going bad. The problem is really intermittent and when they do open/close they make a screeching sound. Whenenver they don't popup the lights are still illuminated (eliminates a bad switch right?)
I want to pull the motors off to look at the gears. If I do that will I be able to put them back together with the bad gear while I wait for a new brass/aluminum gear?
Does anyone have a link to a good walkthrough for pulling these motors? My service manual has me doing stuff that seems a little unnecessary
Appreciate the help.

Re: headlights not popping up (SuppperJ)
the problem is with both headlights, right? kinda weird that both gears would go out at the same time. make sure the problem isn't only with one side. i just replaced one of my gears with a metal one and it works great. you have to pull the headlight assembly to do it. that includes the shroud, cover, and the headlight assembly itself. the service manual is right on when it comes to doing the job. good luck
The problem is definitely with both sides. I've never had one pop up without the other. I planned on pulling both motors to look at the gears. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the help
