Not looking too good for Amsoil. There is an on going study right now comparing various oils in the LS1 engine. At only 2,000 miles, Amsoil's TBN is down to a 5.5. The gurus over at Bobistheoilguy.com are saying this is very low for such a short interval. This is the 5w-30 oil and not their 0w-30. As far as wear goes, we are talking about parts per million which won't really show anything to drastic until a few thousand more miles are added on. Should be interesting!
The TBN drop is disturbing, but it could also be lab error too, so the main thing to look at is how the next few samples go.
As I predicted, lead is down. I predict you'll see a major advantage as the miles get put on, that Amsoil will show a lot lower wear numbers, especially for lead (which is bearing wear) Iron is a bit higher than I predicted so far though.
any oil that contains high amounts of hi pressure additive will oxidized quickly. that is why syn racing oil is not a good oil for long time between oil changes. mobil 1 was designed for long time between oil changes. :chevy
