I have the CCW set-up and need to replace the VW tires on front with the correct size and brand. Can anyone out there who has a similiar set-up help?
I was thinking the 8 ply M/T?
I do not like the VW sidewall appearance, it does not match the E/T Street looks like :U
The trouble you will encounter is locating a 16" bias ply tires that is 5 inches across. The stock CCW tire is a 16x5 Bias Ply LT. There are no 16" front runners out there that I am aware of. The only other front runners are 17", and they are for TF and are for 17" rims. But, they are only 22" tall.
I haven't seen anything from MT that would fit the bill. The CCW fronts are from Firestone.
THX J-ROD. I believe that I have 15" CCW front skinnys, I will check on that later. So in this case what is the recommendation? What are you guys running on the front that works nicely with the E/T Streets?
at this time, and since 1996, it is the ONLY tire that has the size, construction, and load rating to be suitable for the application. i keep an eye out for any new offerings, and to this day, none of the racing tire producers (hoosier/goodyear/ specialy tire) has shown any interest in producing a 16/17/or 18" narrow (4-5" tread width), BIAS-PLY, fiberglass or polyester belted tire for the application.
Thanks racewheel! I have the sidewall construction that appears ribbed, similiar to those offered on the VW buses in the late 60's. However, I realize that the load cap is greater ~1070 vs the 1960's bus load.
Thanks for your help, guess I will stay with the ribbed sidewall :yesnod:
