Well, I have decided to take my Z06 by the horns and attempt to do a head cam package swap on my own. My concern lies in that this will be my first time to do any "internal" work to an engine. I have done full suspension rebuilds, installed headers on my ruby, and rebuilt the rear in my ruby with 4.10's. But this will be my first attempt and any thing this major. I figure it will save a large amount of money and it will also be a great way to get to know the car very well.
I guess I am just looking for any tips people might have, words of wisdom, and finally some encouragement.
I am about 90% set on doing the Cartek 2x package and bringin it up there for the final tuning.. With the gains people have been seeing with this package I can't wait to see the powers for myself. I will be ordering my parts this week!!

:iagree: Very straightfoward with no surprises. You might want to snag a buddy to help with a few things to make it a bit easier. The crank pulley for one and possibly the steering rack.
Plenty of guys here have done it themselves with no problem. I buddy and I helped each other do our C5's and had a lot of fun doing it.

I have already printed it out and read it multiple time.. I'm just debating on getting headers at this point or seeing what I can get out of the car with stock manifolds and cats through the borla stingers I have now.
Re: First Time Do it yourself Head Cam Swap?? (Dugmole)
Dozens of "first timers" have done the swap themselves and had no issues using my instructions, so if you are good with instructions and tools you'll be fine.
As for stock manifolds, my car made 393rwhp through stock exhaust manifolds, stock cats, stock hpipe, and stock mufflers.....to top it off, its sooooo quiet and smooth through a bone stock exhaust. Once you do headers you lose a lot of that refinement, but you do pickup another 20-30rwhp.
