i am selling my 01 coupe and replacing it with 04 Z06. my question is i have vortech ram air and corsa indy on the coupe. should I put those on my Z06? i love the sound of the corsa especially the snap crackle pop whn you let of the throttle. however i am also aware that the titanium stock exhaust on the Z06 is much lighter, i do autocross my car so that is important to me. the combination of the intake and exhaust have given me 13rwhp and 20lb-ft rwt on the dyno with the coupe. will the exhaust sound more agressive on the Z06? I hope so, and should I swap exhausts? I think swaping the intake is a no brainer unless one of you know of a reason why i shouldnt.
are you serious? do you race your vette in a sanctioned event? i would rather have an 04 z06 instead of an C6 coupe. cause the z06 is a better race car. please don't berate me for this response as i am quite drunk at the time of this writing, however i still have an engineering sense of mind and i know that weight is everything when it comes to cornering cause the tires can take only so much lateral force before they break free.
I would go for the least amount of weight. A few horsepower at the top end is not going to help you in an autocross where most of the time your rpms will not be very close to the top end but the reduced weight will be there all the time. However, since you have both exhaust systems available why not take out the titaniums and weigh them. If they are lighter keep them and if the Corsas are the same or lighter put them on.
Bill
thanks bill. i am almost positive the corsas are going to weigh more. i believe steel has 3 times the mass of titanium. back to your point. weight is everything so i think it would make more sense to keep the stockers. hopefully they won't be as quiet as the ones on the LS1 vette.
I would say put them on your Z06. My Dad put on the Tigershark exhaust on his Z06 and it sounds sweet. I had The Daytona system on my hardtop and I loved the sound also. Kaley
Kaley, your ride looks sweet. how did you lower it? any adverse affect on ride and handling? i race my car so i cant have it handle worse than factory.
If you do a search on the forum you can get some pretty good instructions on lowering it. Mine is lowered 3 inches. All you have to buy is longer bolts in the rear. Whick you can get from pretty much any hardware store. The ride is a little stiffer but not harsh. I didn't notice any negative affects from lowering the car. kaley
