The stall has nothing to do with it as the converter should be locked at those speeds.
I run about 2500 rpm in that speed range. The car can really jump from tht speed up to 90+ with no problem. Nice gears, but I do less than 40% of my driving on the interstate.
If you do over 60% highway, 3.42 is probably a better choice.
FWIW ...I have the 3.73's and a YANK SS3800 :yesnod: I cruise the highway everyday and at 75mph the rpms are at 2500..at 85mph close to 3000 rpms ,all in Drive..passing is just a matter of downshifting to 3 and the car jumps to 100 mph in no time!! I LOVE that TRANSGO shift kit :hurray:
Unless you are going for the land speed record - which the corvette is the wrong car to try it in anyway, I feel that anything over 120 is too fast for any non professional driver to go anyway.
It is just math, if 2500 rpm = 75 then 5000 = 150 and 6000 rpm = 180. Somewhere in there, some other factors other than gears will be the limiting factor.
Mike - I am pretty much happy with my car - I am just waiting on IMQUIK to get his SS3600 TC in to see if that is for me or if I stay with my PT2400. Other than that - I play a more tennis than I do Vette stuff.
