Default Coated vs. non-coated headers

My Valkyrie motorcycle has coated headers - makes a HUGE difference in heat (not as much off).

I would presume that having coated headers in the C5 engine bay would also make a HUGE difference in heat - not to mention the tunnel etc.

Can anyone comment?

Where does one get headers coated?

I'm considering the LGM Long Tubes with Cats - but I don't think they come coated?

Thanks! :steering:

The Pro LG LT Headers are stainless steel, therefore do not need to be jet-coated.

I have non-coated headers in my car and yes, during the summer I can feel a lot more heat coming into the passenger compartment than I used to. Jet-Hot Coatings does good work and I think a lot of manufacturers use them.

The Heatmaster Tunnel heat shield made a big difference in reducing the heat in the center console area.

Thanks guys.

I searched for Heatmaster Shield and found a web site (Cambridgemotorsport.com)offering the product - prices were in pounds - but the larger section (wasn't custom cut to fit the tunnel) was only 41.45(pounds not dollars) for a 127mm X 229 sheet. Not sure how many would be required..

Makes me wonder why the prices I've seen here are so high for this!?
Usually 320.00 to 399.00 (dollars)!

Anyone have experience with making their own?

Thanks

Had my headers ceramic coated by a local shop. A place that powder coats should be able to do this. Does reduce engine compartment heat. Jet Hot is very good source but must send to them and they are expensive, around $400. Paid less than $200 at local shop
