the pilot a/s is less expensive, and the website claims it to be quieter and have a longer tread life than the regular pilots. hmmm so what's the difference, anyone ever feel the pilot a/s compared to the regular ones? anyone got pliot a/s and like them alot? i mean if they are quieter and last longer, and cheaper...just get the all seasons then..right? can the cornering ability be that much worse? what's the dealio?
Are you looking at the normal Pilot a/s or the Zero Pressure ones. Having over 40K on the zero pressure tires, I find them much quieter than the Goodyear run flats and have performed well, so far, in Michigan's winter snows. :steering:
The ZPs have a stiffer sidewall and produce a little more road noise than the A/Ss. I have the A/Ss and am very happy with their performance in wet and dry conditions. They do flex laterally a little more than the Run Craps but are so much better in ride and road noise quality. And that treadwear rating of 400............you can't beat that. They wear like iron. A good addition to a world class sports car.

Since mine is a daily driver I didn't want to sacrifice safety but wanted a better performance tire than the GY's. I went with the Pilot Sports A/S ZP's. Man these are great tires. After 14 months and 10K of use there is no visible wear.
I paid $1297 (delivered) from TIRERACK back in Nov 2002. They have a rating of 400.
i have the pilot sports.
keep in mind the higher the treadwear rating the harsher the ride. the rubber is harder and the tire will last longer so you have to decide if you want a quality ride or maximum mileage.
i don't drive my car every day so i went with the pilots that has a 220 treadwear rating and gives a very comfortable ride.
I've got the Pilot A/S on my daily-driven Corvette. So far, they have been great tires. Better dry grip than the worn Goodyears that were on the car when I bought it (28K miles), great in the rain, and good in the snow. I never thought the Corvette would be a great winter car b/c of it's weight and power, but these tires performed the best I can hope for. I've heard good things about their treadlife...I have 5K miles (and one evening at the dragstrip) on mine and they look like new.
My advice is if your car will see a lot of rain & bad weather, but the A/S. IF not, buy the regular Pilot Sports for the better dry traction.

The same ones I have...Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZPs. They are super tires...I love 'em. I paid $1350 (installed) at Discount Tire last October. That included mounting, free balancing and flat repair for the life of the tire, free valve stems, all taxes, disposal of the old tires and a limited road hazard warranty. As far as I'm concerned, these guys are hard to beat. I just picked up a set of tires for my Explorer there last month. In addition to the above, they'll rotate the tires (every 5K, I think) free for the life of the tire.

I just put the a/s zp's on my 01, after 34k+ on the emt's what a differance just went to Palm Springs and back 950mi +, about 75-85% quieter, smoother riding, and handle the twisties great, a little expensive, $1354.96 @ Americas Tire out the door, they have everything to handle run flats, only took one hour, and not one mark on the wheels
