Default Torque Converter suggestions for everyday driver?

Anyone have torque converter suggestions for everyday driver? I have 3.73 gears and am making 377RWHP/393RWTQ. I have read about owners who wish they would have gone with a higher stall after they install. I don't want any regrets, but my wife has to be able to drive it with no noticable drivablity problems. :banghead:

The converter in my car is a 2400 and really does not feel like much over stock. My C4 had a 3000 and felt alot stronger and drove well. I just ordered a new 373 diff and I will be changing to at least a 3000.

You did not say what your plans for your car are, are you going to be running DRs or street tires? Are you planning to race your car? Go with at least a 3500 stall, if you are going to be running street tires the SY3500 is a good choice. If you are going to be running DRs or ET streets the SS3600 or the SS3800 are excellent choices. The SS converters will have better driveability than the SY3500 (they will feel tighter).

SS3600 or SS3800. My 3600 big power improvement over Y3000 but still very streetable.

OK I had the SS3600 with 3.42's. It was awesome and very tight, for a 3600 stall. You will love them. Now I have an SS4000 with the same 3.4'2's still very tight for a 4000, but noticeably looser than the 3600, but not that much.

Now with 3.73's and an SS3800 you should be just fine, however, the traction on street tires with any high stall TC is going to be a challenge, but you can control that with your right foot. If you get the SS3600 it will be a very good performer and very tight, the SS3800 would be my choice, especially with 3.73 gears.

Do not get a 2400 or a 3000 you WILL regret it 100% and wished you had went bigger. Go 3500 and above with a High STR (Stall Torque Ratio) which is the number of times it multiplies your torque.

For example:

The SS3600 has a 2.50 Stall Torque ratio & the SS3800 has a 2.55 Stall Torque Ratio.

The higher the STR the Bigger the Hit off the line and it multiplies torque over a shorter period of time. As a comparison the Super Yank 3500 has a 1.65 STR and hits softer off the line, but multiplies the torque over a longer period of time. The Yank SS3600/3800 have 95% efficiency as compared the Super Yank 3500, which has 97% efficiency. remember that is due to the lower STR which multiplies the torque more efficiently and over a longer period of time.

The SS3600 I had was still Great from a 40 or 50 MPH Roll, my 4000 is even better.:D :D

Also the shift extensions come into play. The SS3600 has 4700-4800 rpm shift extension. The SS3800 has 4900-5000 rpm shift extension. Shift extensions simply mean when your car shifts how much the tach drops down. Stock it might drop to 2,500, but now, say with the SS3800 your RPM's will only drop to 4,900 when it shifts, thus giving you a bunch more power since when you shift you will be higher up in the rpm's and powerband.

Ok That is enough for now.

Good Luck

The Bandit.................... :auto:

You should consider the SY3500. With it you will have traction from a slow roll and from a stop you can learn to manage it.
Talk to Mike at Yank also.
