Performing the "Hot Reboot" with the key does not always work. In my case the oil temp only resumed to normal operation after shutting down for a few minutes.
When I encountered this for the first time a few weeks ago I did an extensive search and found this to be a common issue - must be a S/W designer's way of busting our nut!
